On November 6, at Hue University, Thua Thien Hue Union of Science and Technology Associations solemnly organized the 5th Honoring Ceremony of 12 outstanding scientific and technological intellectuals in 2021.
Twelve typical intellectuals, including one international scientist, were honored this year for their typical solutions, initiatives, scientific works, and major achievements in scientific and technical research.
This is an important annual event organized by the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations to recognize scientists’ contributions to the province’s science and technology development in order to contribute to the province’s socio-economic growth in the early stages of transforming Thua Thien Hue into a typical centrally run city.
This activity has confirmed once again that science and technology play a critical role in bringing about significant socio-economic change. Thua Thien Hue has prepared a development plan with the following goals: Specific solutions, with a focus on 2025 and a vision for 2030, are aimed at transforming Thua Thien Hue into the science and technology center of the Central major economic region and the country. On the foundation of the knowledge economy, Thua Thien Hue will progress towards green growth.
Recognizing and praising the achievements and dedication of scientists and intellectuals, Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Dang, Party Secretary – Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Union of Science and Technology Associations emphasizes that intellectuals and scientists have contributed talents and wisdom to science, organization building, socio-economic development of the province and the country. Twelve typical scientists and intellectuals in today’s honoring ceremony, with outstanding achievements known not only in the province, the country but also at the international level – these people – deserve to be the pride of science and technology intellectuals in Thua Thien Hue province.
The honor activity affirms the importance of intellectuals in Thua Thien Hue province in general, and particularly scientific and technological intellectuals, in the process of industrialization and modernization. This has been proved in practice by the province’s modernization and socioeconomic development.
It is known that Thua Thien Hue province’s intellectual team is ranked first in the Central – Central Highlands region, third in the country in terms of quantity, just behind Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with more than 40,000 people holding a college degree or higher and working in a variety of professions, with 275 Professors and Associate Professors; 1,043 Doctorates; 3,936 Masters; 7,787 University Graduates; in which, there are 15,124 intellectuals in the field of science and technology.
