That is the topic of the scientific conference organized online by HUSTA on the afternoon of December 24, 2021.
Nearly 200 participants attending the seminar via the online application Zoom including the Vietnam Union of Associations, representatives of the Union of provinces and cities, representatives of provincial departments and agencies, representatives of member associations, science and technology organizations, members of the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, experts, scientists and many participants of interest.
Emphasizing the role of the Union in the fight against Covid-19, Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Dang, Secretary of the Party Union, Chairman of the Union affirmed: The Covid-19 pandemic has been causing damage to humanity, given the worrisome developments of the pandemic, a team of intellectuals, scientists, and researchers has united, diligently researched and updated information at home and abroad to make recommendations, guidelines, treatment methods, and technical applications to limit the spread of the epidemic and return to a normal life.
Thua Thien Hue has a large and growing group of intellectuals. The number of intellectuals with academic titles and high degrees has increased rapidly, the province has nearly 300 professors and associate professors, nearly 1,000 doctorates, about 2,000 masters and nearly 200 people’s teachers, Meritorious teachers… The Union has a total of 50 member associations, 08 dependent centers and a society with nearly 30,000 members.
The Union’s principle is to gather, unite, and promote the creativity of scientific and technological intellectuals from all economic sectors and fields of social activities for the purpose of industrialization and modernization, building a knowledge-based economy, contributing to the development of Thua Thien Hue province.
From the early days of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Union’s Standing Committee quickly asked the scientists of the member associations to provide updated articles, recommendations as well as professional guidance so that people and colleagues are aware of the Coronavirus’s dangerous effects. Those are the articles that first appeared on the website www.husta.org of the Thua Thien Hue Union of Associations and updated on the website www.vusta.vn of the Vietnam Union of Associations to inform the masses. Typical articles include: “Coronavirus infection – Causes, symptoms and prevention” by Dr. BS Nguyen Duc Hoang, Cardiology Association; “Acute pneumonia caused by new coronavirus (nCoV)” by Assoc. Tran Xuan Chuong, Chairman of the Association of Infectious Diseases – HIV/AIDS … were posted in January 2020.
Up to now, on the channels of information dissemination of HUSTA, there have been: 11 articles published in the Science and Technology Newsletter (every 2 months / 1 issue); the Vietnamese version website www.husta.org has 58 articles, the English version website has 32 articles and the Youtube channel has 4 videos about the Covid-19 prevention and control.
Besides the task of disseminating knowledge, the creative activities of the Union assigned by the Provincial People’s Committee also achieved encouraging results. In the past 2 years, at the Youth and Children’s Innovation Contest and the Technical Innovation Contest, there have been 39 research topics with the content of Covid-19 prevention and control.
Chairing and coordinating with the Diabetes and Endocrinology Association and the Heart Association to organize a scientific conference with the theme: “Non-communicable diseases in the situation of Covid-19” with fully socialized funds.
At the conference, the delegates listened to 05 presentations which are the research results, professional updates of scientists in the fight against the Covid pandemic, which are:
– The situation of Covid-19 disease in the world, in Vietnam and Thua Thien Hue province by Assoc. Tran Xuan Chuong, Head of the Association of HIV/AIDS Infectious Diseases of Thua Thien Hue province;
– Cardiovascular disease and Covid-19 by Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Minh, Chairman of the Association of Cardiology and AIDS in Thua Thien Hue province;
– Covid-19 and Diabetes by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hai Thuy, Vice President of Diabetes and Endocrinology Association of Thua Thien Hue province presented;
– Vaccination against Covid-19 vaccine in Thua Thien Hue province in 2021 by Nguyen Le Tam, MSc – Deputy Director of Control Center.
