On September 16, 2023, the Thua Thien Hue Union of Science and Technology Associations (HUSTA) solemnly held the anniversary to celebrate the 30th establishment anniversary of HUSTA (September 17, 1993 – September 17, 2023).
Attending the anniversary were: A/Prof. Pham Ngoc Linh, PhD – Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee – Nguyen Thanh Binh; Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Committee – Nguyen Chi Tai; Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of Hue City People’s Council – Phan Thien Dinh; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council – Nguyen Thi Ai Van; Permanent Vice Chairman of Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee – Nguyen Huu Lac; Deputy Director of Hue University – Do Thi Xuan Dung, PhD, Director of Vifotec Foundation – Nguyen Xuan Tien; together with leaders of HUSTA over time and representatives of member associations and affiliated units.

HUSTA was established by the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province on September 17, 1993. Up to now, after 30 years of establishment and development, HUSTA deserves to be a sociopolitical organization with the role of uniting scientists in the province, and Vietnamese scientists at home and abroad, facilitating among member associations and government, representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of members, member associations, and affiliated units, which contribute to the implementation of Resolution 54-NQ/ Central dated December 10, 2019 of the Politburo on Construction and Development of Thua Thien Hue province to 2030, vision to 2045.

Over the past 30 years, HUSTA has always attached great importance to the tasks of building and developing the organization. Until now, there have been 51 member associations, 01 Institute, 08 Centers, and 01 Club with more than 30,000 members; HUSTA has performed well the tasks of consultancy, judgment, and social expertise which were requested by the Provincial People’s Committee; Promoted the work of propagate scientific and technological knowledge among the people in many forms, from directly to through mass media; Organized 16 times the Provincial Youth and Children’s Creativity Contest, and 13 times the Provincial Technical Creativity Contest with thousands of participating topics and dozens of projects that won high national and international awards, from here, research topics have been applied into practical life; 07 times Honoring Outstanding Scientific and Technological Scientists with several 103 domestic and foreign scientists.

The 30th establishment anniversary of HUSTA is an opportunity to look back on the journey of construction, development, and achievements of HUSTA. From there, we can draw valuable lessons for the next journey, and review the formation and development process of HUSTA over the past 30 years, thereby enhancing the responsibility of officials as well as scientists in the process of building and developing HUSTA, contributing to the socio-economic development of the homeland and the country.
