On the evening of November 29 at Lecture Hall I, University of Education, Hue University, the Closing and Award Ceremony of the 13th Thua Thien Hue Provincial Technical Innovation Contest 2023 was organized by the Thua Thien Hue Union of Science and Technology Associations in collaboration with Hue University, the Labor Confederation, the Department of Science and Technology, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and related units.
In attendance were Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial Party Committee Phan Ngoc Tho, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh, along with representatives of the leadership of the Provincial People’s Council, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, provincial Party committees; departments, central agencies located in the province; districts, towns, cities; universities, colleges, businesses; and the scientists awarded in the 13th Thua Thien Hue Provincial Technical Innovation Contest in 2023.

The provincial Technical Innovation Contest is organized annually to promote the creative labor movement of the entire population in the field of science and technology, enhance the effective application of research results, and technical solutions in production and life. It contributes to the socioeconomic development, realizing the tasks of industrialization and modernization of the country. Additionally, it honors and acknowledges the contributions of scientific researchers, workers, farmers, and innovative individuals with practical technical solutions and initiatives that have been applied in Thua Thien Hue province, bringing about high economic and social efficiency.

The contest is widely implemented through various forms of diverse propaganda, mobilization, and attracts many participants regardless of age, educational level, professional background, and economic status. The participating fields are all related to production activities and are suitable for the requirements of socioeconomic development.

Over 13 times of organization, there have been 770 projects participating in the provincial-level contest, with 537 projects awarded at the provincial level, 38 projects winning prizes at the National Technical Innovation Contest, and the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award.
In the 13th contest in 2023, there were 75 projects registered in 6 participating fields. Many projects were meticulously invested in, demonstrating high quality and impressive practical results. The participants are increasingly diverse, ranging from laborers, administrative staff, technical staff, engineers, bachelor’s degree holders to leading researchers and scientists, attracting numerous agencies and units in the province.
As a result, the Organizing Committee decided to award 5 First Prizes, 8 Second Prizes, 14 Third Prizes, and 33 Consolation Prizes to 250 scientists.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, presented a Commendation Certificate from the Provincial People’s Committee to the research group on the topic ‘Research and Production of Bio-organic Leaf Fertilizer from Aquatic Plants for Some Leafy Vegetables in Thua Thien Hue Province.’ The group, led by the scientist Hoang Thi Thai Hoa and colleagues from Hue University, won the Third Prize at the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award in 2022.

In addition, the Organizing Committee also praised and awarded Certificates of Merit to six collectives for their outstanding achievements in propaganda, dissemination, and organization of the 13th Technical Innovation Contest in 2023.

The Organizing Committee officially launched the 14th Provincial Technical Innovation Contest in 2024 and hoped to continue receiving active participation and positive response from the entire population to create a movement for scientific and technological innovation throughout Thua Thien Hue province.
