The 5th Expanded Capital Cardiology Conference 2026 was officially launched in Hue City on June 6 and 7, 2026. The conference featured a groundbreaking and highly topical theme: “Application of Precision Medicine and New Technologies in the Management of Cardiovascular Diseases and Comorbidities”. The event was organized by the Hue City Cardiology Association – a specialized member of the Hue City Union of Science and Technology Associations – in collaboration with relevant units.
The conference attracted over 1,000 participants, bringing together more than 400 delegates in person and over 600 experts and clinicians remotely. The event also featured insights from nearly 70 leading domestic and international cardiovascular experts, its growing academic significance and influence in the field.
Prof. Huynh Van Minh, MD, PhD, President of the Vietnam National Heart Association and President of the Hue City Cardiology Association – Head of the Organizing Committee, delivered the opening remarks.
In his opening and keynote address, Prof. Huynh Van Minh, MD, PhD, President of the Vietnam National Heart Association, President of the Vietnam Hypertension Society, President of the Hue City Cardiology Association, and Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized that cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death and a major burden on public health. This reality places increasing pressure and demands on healthcare professionals, requiring the medical system to constantly update knowledge and innovate approaches to treatment. He noted that this year’s conference serves as a prestigious annual scientific forum, offering new medical perspectives and practical clinical applications to strengthen clinical capacity and promote multidisciplinary collaboration.

According to Prof. Viet, this reflects the Organizing Committee’s strategic long-term vision and sharpness in proactively embracing the inevitable evolution of modern medicine worldwide.
Driving the Powerful Application of Technology in the Era of Precision Medicine
The most impressive highlight at the 5th Capital Cardiology Conference was the profound impact of high-tech solutions. Expanding upon traditional treatment approaches, this year’s presentations centered on analyzing the revolutionary roles of Artificial Intelligence (AI), genomic mapping, and proteomics, alongside smart devices and wearable continuous health monitors in prevention and personalized patient care.
From a solid foundation of basic medicine to practical clinical applications, AI-driven personalized intervention models in cardio-renal syndromes, as well as the ability to predict early risks of sudden death and cardiovascular events from ECG data, are progressively reshaping the daily clinical practice of cardiologists. These advancements optimize treatment efficacy while minimizing patient risks.
With its extensive academic scale, the conference hosted 25 scientific sessions simultaneously across four halls. More than 100 high-quality presentations provided a comprehensive look at the remarkable achievements and pressing challenges in modern cardiology.
During the in-depth discussion sessions, leading experts collaborated to address complex dilemmas in daily clinical practice. The coronary artery disease and interventional cardiology segment took center stage with a series of specialized topics. These included techniques for managing complex calcified vascular lesions; the application of advanced intravascular imaging (IVUS, OCT) for precise lesion assessment; modern plaque modification methods such as rotational atherectomy (Rotablator) or intravascular lithotripsy (IVL); and optimization strategies for the use of next-generation drug-coated balloons.
In addition, delegates were updated on significant advancements in surgery and intensive care, such as transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and intensive care management using advanced mechanical circulatory support systems. Notably, the sessions highlighted invaluable clinical insights and moving experiences drawn from recent highly successful “cross-Vietnam heart transplant” cases.
Interdisciplinary Connection in Healthcare
Recognizing the rising complexity of comorbidities in the community, the 2026 Capital Cardiology Conference proactively designed special joint sessions with the participation of the Vietnam Society of Sleep Medicine, the Vietnam Association of Diabetes and Endocrinology, and the Vietnam Society of Family Physicians. This coordinated, multidisciplinary approach provides clinicians with a comprehensive view when treating cardiovascular patients with multiple chronic underlying conditions.
A deeply meaningful and humanistic highlight of the conference was the Young Investigator Award. This annual initiative actively inspires and encourages a spirit of continuous innovation and creativity among the younger generation of physicians, the future leaders of cardiology. At this year’s conference, the Organizing Committee honored and presented the Capital Cardiology Young Investigator Award to young scientists for their outstanding works on AI applications in acute coronary syndrome diagnosis, advanced research in physiological pacing, and evaluations of novel echocardiographic parameters.
Establishing The Hue Ancient Capital Brand in Advanced Specialized Healthcare
With the mission to enhance the quality and efficacy of the Expanded Capital Scientific Conferences, the Hue City Union of Science and Technology Associations has actively supported its member societies in organizing these specialized regional events over the years.
