Thua Thien Hue Honors 63 Technical Solutions at the Closing and Awarding Ceremony of the 14th Technical Innovation Contest

On November 15, 2024, the Closing and Awarding Ceremony for the 14th Provincial Technical Innovation Contest of Thua Thien Hue took place in Hue City. The event was held with great solemnity to recognize and honor outstanding technical solutions that have contributed to the socio-economic development of the province.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ai Van, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province; Dr. Ho Thang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology; along with representatives from various departments and organizations; leaders from Hue University and Hue Central Hospital; central government agencies based in the province; representatives from districts, towns, cities; universities, colleges, and businesses. From the organizing side, Dr. Ho Dac Thai Hoang, President of Thua Thien Hue Union of Science and Technology Associations (HUSTA) and Head of the Organizing Committee of the Contest were also present, along with a large number of participants in the 14th Provincial Technical Innovation Contest.

Overview of the Closing and Awarding Ceremony

The 14th Technical Innovation Contest of Thua Thien Hue in 2024 was an important event that highlighted and celebrated the creativity and contributions of people from various fields of science and technology. The event aimed to foster innovation, promote the practical use of scientific research, and highlight its potential for contributing to economic and social development. Through this annual contest, the province sought to encourage applying scientific and technological solutions to daily life, thereby improving the quality of life and supporting sustainable development.

The contest entries were organized into six distinct categories, each reflecting a vital sector of innovation and development. These categories included Information Technology, Electronics, and Telecommunications; Mechanics and Automation: Robotics for Services; Materials, Chemicals, and Energy; Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Natural Resources, and the Environment; Medicine; and Education and Training. These entries showed the creativity and skills of the participants while also emphasizing how important the contest was in driving new ideas and progress. By featuring advancements in the above areas, the contest provided a platform to showcase new possibilities and inspire further growth in each field, contributing to the development and improvement of the province.

A significant highlight of the contest was the entries’ impressive quantity and exceptional quality. The Organizing Committee received 115 solutions, many of which stood out for their practicality, creativity, and potential for real-world impact. These entries resulted from tremendous effort and careful research and demonstrated substantial practical value, particularly in areas critical to the province’s development. Fields such as healthcare, agriculture, environmental sustainability, and information technology were strongly represented, with many highlighted solutions.

This competition, with new improvements in the evaluation process and a prestigious and high-quality panel of judges, has selected and recommended that the Organizing Committee award 4 First Prizes, 7 Second Prizes, 13 Third Prizes, and 39 Encouragement Prizes to nearly 300 individuals and groups for their outstanding work. The prizes recognize creativity and inspire continued research and innovation in their respective fields. Among the winners of the First Prizes, the following solutions were particularly noteworthy for their innovation and potential impact:

  1. “amr.ai.vn – A comprehensive solution using ai to support reading Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion antibiotic susceptibility test results for healthcare facilities” by Nguyen Hoang Bach, Phan Thanh Luan, Nguyen Thi Khanh Linh, Ung Thi Thuy, Nguyen Minh Huy, Tran Nguyen Quang Tien, Tran Anh Hung, Tran Khanh Toan, Nguyen Vu Thanh, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University.
  2. “Chain of custody of Melaleuca essential oil products (Melaleuca Cajuputi Powell) – from tissue culture to products meeting FSC standards” by Ton That Ai Tin, Nguyen Cao Danh, Tong Phuoc Binh, Le Thi Thuy Nga, Nguyen Thi My Phuong, Ngo Thanh, Tien Phong State Forestry One Member Limited Liability Company.
  3. “Design and operation of low differential pressure cleanroom systems optimizing air quality solutions for laboratories” by Le Minh Tam, Nguyen Van Trung, Nguyen Vu Quoc Huy, Cao Ngoc Thanh, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University.
  4. “Teacher power in Vietnamese Higher Education English classes from the perspectives of critical Discourse Analysis Theory” by Do Thi Xuan Dung, Mai Van Ket, Tran Van Phuoc, Le Lam Thi, Tran Thi Huyen Gam, Nguyen Thi Ai Huu, Hue University.

The First Prize-winning solutions show the high quality of the work submitted in the contest and highlight how these innovative ideas could lead to fundamental changes and improvements in different fields.

In addition, seven outstanding organizations were honored. They received Certificates of Merit from the Organizing Committee for their contributions to the promotion and organization of the contest, recognizing their essential role in fostering a strong creative movement within the community. Besides the Organizing Committee also presented commemorative medals to the judges in appreciation for their impartial evaluations, careful selection, and contributions to helping the Committee choose suitable, high-quality, and practical entries.

The Ceremony of the 14th Technical Innovation Contest of Thua Thien Hue also marks the official launch of the 15th Contest in 2025. The scientific and technical innovation movement has become an important driving force for the province’s socio-economic development, and the Organizing Committee hopes to continue receiving enthusiastic participation and support from the people, organizations, and units across the province.
