Abstract:
Purpose: Evaluating the safety and effect of kidney transplants with kidneys lavaged by retrograde perfusion technique via the renal vein at Hue central hospital. Patients and Methods: A prospective study in 17 cases kidney transplants with kidneys lavaged by retrograde perfusion technique via the renal vein and compared with 275 cases kidney transplants with kidneys lavaged by antegrade perfusion technique, from 1/2018 to 8/2019, at Organ Transplants Center, Hue Central Hospital. Results: The variables: the amount of perfusion fluid and retrograde perfusion time (7.24 ± 1.35 minutes) were higher than the antegrade perfusion technique (5.63 ± 1.41min), the hot warm ischemie time of the retrograde perfusion group (4.84 ± 1.43 minutes) is also longer than the antergrade group (3.96 ± 1.78 minutes). However, the cold ischemie time, hospital stay, and renal function after transplantation did not differ between the two groups. Conclusions: The retrograde perfusion technique is simply, safe and effective. In the context of the surgeon facing kidney transplant with artery lesions, stenosis, abnormalities, multiple arteries the retrograde renal wash may become an additional and alternative method for conventional kidney wash.
Keywords: kidney perfusion, retrograde kidney perfusion, kidney transplant.
