Inauguration of Vietnam’s most advanced Oncology Center in Hue (January 20, 2016)

On January 16, Hue Central Hospital organized the inauguration ceremony and official operation of Hue Oncology Center. Participated in the ceremony were: Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, member of the Central Party’s Committee, Minister of Health; Le Truong Luu, Secretary of the Provincial Party’s Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Nguyen Dung, Vice Chair of the Provincial People’s Committee.

Hue Oncology Center has eight floors with total floor area of 15,000 m2; total construction cost was about 200 billion dong from Government bond. The center has 300 standard beds, with wards such as operation, radiotherapy, examination and diagnosis, chemotherapy, treatment and relief, nuclear-medical… the combination of which created a modern, all-in-one, systematic oncology center.

In addition, medical equipment for the center was provided by Austria as an ODA project (35% non-refundable aid) with total value of 17 million Euro.

Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Phu, Director of Hue Central Hospital said that the center was equipped with the most advanced medical equipment in Vietnam such as the Axesse Electa radiotherapy system, which was the latest accelerated radiotherapy system in the world, to treat brain tumors.

With modern radiotherapy system, a variety of treatment techniques such as operation, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the center can provide treatment for both in and out patients; traveling abroad for treatment is no longer needed.

In her Speech at the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien highly appreciated the Oncology Center since it would play a key role in meeting the increasing demand for cancer treatment in the Central region, Highland region and would also help sharing the workload with Hue Central Hospital.
