The Smart Trash Bin is made from the materials taken from used household wastes: Trash bins, sponges, fluorescent lamp trays, cardboards, fasteners, decals, garbage mixer’s crank, plastic boxes, grilles, etc. The product consists of two parts: Mechanical part: Trash bin, support, cover, notice board; Electronic part: Processor, breaker, power wires, LED, household batteries. The inventors combine two separate trash bins equipped with a pedal and a support mounted on its back, fit the processor into the cover, connect the breaker to the processor with the power wires, mount the LED on the notice board and connect it to the power supply.

When the pedal is pushed, the bin is opened and powered on to light up the LED and the processor will emit a sound preset in the USB memory. The speaker then utters “Hãy phân loại rác” (Classify the waste) to remind people of classifying their waste into two kinds of inorganic and organic garbage. A crank is connected to the probiotics container with a shaft. A force being applied on the crank will activate the garbage mixer, and tilt and pour the probiotics container into the wastes that are well mixed and fermented into the organic fertilizer.

The Smart Trash Bin was intended to raise the awareness of the people in waste classification to facilitate the waste treatment done by the environment companies. Thanks to the classification, garbage can be reused, resources are saved, misuse is avoided, amount of waste disposed into the environment is reduced, and sources of water and air are protected while the habitat is greener, cleaner and more beautiful. Additionally, the organic waste can be leveraged to produce fertilizers for the cultivation.
