In the morning of May 22, the Union held a reviewing workshop on “Detailed planning of Huong River banks and the Pilot project” (the Project) with the participation of 20 members of the Reviewing Committee. The project owner is the People’s Committee of Hue city; Planning of the Project is done by the main consultant, a Korean joint venture (Dohawa engineering company and Han-A urban research institute) and the sub-consultant Thua Thien Hue Construction Planning Institution; the Union is the independent Reviewer.
To perform its role as a reviewer, HUSTA established a Reviewing Committee consisting of 20 experts in their respective fields and classified issues to be reviewed into 03 categories including culture and society; ecology, environment and landscape; planning, technical infrastructure and economy. The reviewing process was executed in a scientific and logical manner. After each member of the Reviewing Committee had studied the narrative report, project dossiers and had submitted their expert review reports to committee assistants, the reports were categorized and compiled into a summary review report. HUSTA then held a workshop to review the draft review report, in which further discussion, criticism, revision took place to finalize the review report and submitted it to the Project Owner and relevant competent state agencies.
Members of the Reviewing Committee reviewed, analyzed and assessed the aspects of the planning as required by the Provincial People’s Committee with focus on some aspects that needed further study and revision. The committee also provided scientific and practical bases and proposed appropriate solutions to revise the planning so that its implementation would be more feasible, practical and effective.
