On January 21st -22nd, 2019, the 5th Congress of Thua Thien Hue Union of Science and Technology Associations (HUSTA), the term of 2018-2023 was held at Hue University Hall. Attending the Congress were Dr. Pham Van Tan, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; Mr. Bui Thanh Ha – Standing Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho, Chairman of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee and representatives of the scientific and technological intellectuals in the province.
In the last term, HUSTA has continuously developed in terms of organization. Up to now, HUSTA has 47 member associations, 08 science and technology centers, 01 club (club) with more than 30,000 members increasing 10,000 members compared to the beginning of the term. In particular, there are 24 associations operating in the field of health, 15 associations operating in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, business, services, construction, economy, planning, 08 associations operating in the field of science, natural learning, social science, technology.
With the motto: Solidarity – Wisdom – Creation – Integration and Development, the Congress has set a goal: Building HUSTA to become a strong socio-political organization. The general staff also set targets in the new term to develop 5 more member associations and 5 science and technology organizations; develop 5,000 new members. Promote social counseling, criticism and assessment. Improving the quality of magazines, newsletters, electronic news pages of the Union and its member associations and units; mobilize 30 development projects from international organizations. Improving the quality of scientific innovation and strengthening international cooperation on science and technology.
The Congress elected a new Executive Committee with 48 members, the Standing Committee of 15 members. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Dang was trusted and re-elected the Chairman of HUSTA for the term of 2018-2023.
