Mangrove cleaning in Vinh Tri village (May 21, 2019)

Implementing Plan No. 103 on April 19, 2019 of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee on the issuance of a plan to organize the national week of natural disaster prevention in 2019 in the province; carrying out activities within the framework of the project “Municipal Waste Recycling Program to Reduce Plastic Waste”, Center for Social Research Development  (CSRD) – one of the subordinate units of Thua Thien Hue Union of  Science and Technology Associations (HUSTA) coordinated with Hoang Kim Ho Secondary School to organize waste collection and mangrove forest care in Vinh Tri village (Hai Duong commune).

This activity was held with the participation of the Natural Disaster Prevention Office, 30 students of Hoang Kim Ho  School, authorities and the people of Hai Duong Commune, Huong Tra Town, Thua Thien Hue Province .

The purpose of this activity is to share information and results of local mangrove forests campaign; propaganda on the role of mangrove on disaster prevention for students and local people; collect garbage, clean and take care of mangrove forests.

Mangroves in Hai Duong commune were planted from April 2018 as part of the project “Enhancing flood resilience in city and coastal areas of Thua Thien Hue Province”, so far the plant has grown well with the survival rate is above 90%.
