On the morning of September 27th, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee ,Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Ngoc Tho had a working session with the Executive Board of Thua Thien Hue Union of Science and Technology Associations (HUSTA) on the activities situation and task orientation in the coming time of HUSTA.
At the meeting, On behalf of the Executive Board, Mr. Tran Huu Dang, Chairman of HUSTA, reported to the provincial President the achievements of the past and suggested some tasks to be implemented in 2019.
HUSTA has affirmed and strengthened the role of unite and intellectual gathering with 47 member associations, 8 science and technology centers and 01 young creative club with a total membership of more than 30,000. HUSTA encourages creativity, scientific and technical research of intellectuals and people throughout the province.
The Thua Thien Hue Provincial Children’s and Youth Creativity Contest has been held since 2008, with 628 subjects participating in the provincial level. The Thua Thien Hue Creative Technology Contest and the Science and Technology Creation Award were held in 2004, to date there are 291 subjects participating in the Technology Contest and 196 works participating in the Awards; In addition to provincial awards, many projects have won national prizes, attracting hundreds of researchers working in Thua Thien Hue and also foreign scientists.
Since 2017, the Union has honored outstanding intellectuals in scientific and technological activities (in 2017, there were 15 prominent intellectuals honored, in 2018 there were 17 intellectuals honored); Organizing the meeting, honored 18 amateur inventors first. This is a very practical activity not only to honor and reward but also to motivate the contingent of intellectuals and non-specialists inventors to promote their creativity and passion for scientific and technological research for socio-economic and community development.
The dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge is promoted with the Science and Technology Bulletin and the website. In addition, HUSTA has coordinated with other departments, agencies and units to organize regular dissemination of scientific and technical information for people’s life focusing on the content of scientific subjects for new rural construction, health care and climate change.
With regard to the work plan for 2019, HUSTA will continue to carry out its duties according to its functions. In particular, HUSTA will focus on scientific research and start-up activities; To promote the consultative activities of counterintelligence through workshops on scientific and technological creation in service of socio-economic development of the province; Introduce and transfer innovative scientific and technological solutions for new rural development; popularize the results of research, creative science and technology into life.
In conclusion, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Ngoc Tho appreciated the efforts of HUSTA, member associations and affiliated units in the implementation of the research and application tasks. Study techniques for socio-economic development in the province. Affirming the Union has done well to gather and promote the strength of intellectuals, as well as create conditions for creative and scientific research to come into life.
The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Ngoc Tho requested the Executive Board of HUSTA to continue to study and advise the provincial People’s Committee on scientific research tasks and programs, especially for scientific and applied subjects.
