15 scientists were solemnly honored at the 8th Honoring Ceremony for Typical Science and Technology Intellectuals, 2024

On the evening of May 17th, the Thua Thien Hue Union of Science and Technology Associations (HUSTA) solemnly organized the 8th Honoring Ceremony for Typical Science and Technology Intellectuals of the year 2024 of Hue University.

Attending the ceremony were Associate Professor Dr. Pham Ngoc Linh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA); Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Ms. Nguyen Thi Ai Van, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Mr. Ho Thang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, along with leaders of provincial departments, district and town committees, and sectors, central agencies in the area, and honored intellectuals and their relatives attending the ceremony.

As part of the series of activities leading up to the commemoration of Vietnam Science and Technology Day on May 18th, HUSTA conducted the selection of exemplary science and technology intellectuals who were recommended for the 8th Honoring Ceremony in 2024.

This annual activity organized by HUSTA aims to concretize the Party’s and the State’s attention and appreciation of intellectuals in science and technology, while recognizing the contributions of intellectuals to the development of science and technology in the province’s economic and social development process.

Addressing the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Ngoc Linh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, affirmed: “During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always valued intellectuals and highly appreciated the role of the intellectual workforce. It can be seen that the intellectual workforce in our country today is a particularly creative labor force and carries a lofty mission in the country’s development process. Building a strong intellectual workforce directly enhances the nation’s intelligence, the strength of the country, and improves the capacity of the Party and the quality of the political system.”

The year 2024 marks the 8th year of the continued honoring ceremony. This year, after more than a month of launching and widely implementing across all agencies and departments from central to local levels throughout the province, the results achieved are as follows: HUSTA received 25 individual applications recommended by various units. The selection committee convened and proposed to the Executive Committee to make decisions to recognize and honor 15 exemplary intellectuals, outstanding scientists, for the 8th time in 2024.

Through 8 editions of the event, 118 exemplary intellectuals have been honored, including 24 professors, 38 associate professors, 25 doctors, 14 masters, and 17 individuals who are reputable, high-quality scientists and experts. Especially, among them are 10 foreign professors and 01 foreign expert. Thua Thien Hue is the only unit in the country to honor foreign scientists.
